Was the day I became a big sister.
For the first time!
Brittney was this kid who came with crazy dark curly hair and a mouth on her.
The girl that tried everything once----smoking in junior high at the bus stop. Yup that was this girl. Writing a not appropriate word on the school while in kindergarten. That was her.
Running around the neighborhood with the boys, riding bikes. Yup, that was B.
I remember this as clear as day. Brittney must have been like 5 and the boys were in the front yard with her an they were playing with these trucks and stuff an were all dirty and the boys took off their shirts cause they were hot an sure enough, so did Brittney and I remember my mom marching across that yard and trying to explain to her that she could not take off her shirt like the boys.
And she didn’t think that was fair!
and we shared a bed room in our youth (holly hobbie sheets!)
and we had walkie talkie phones stretched between two rooms when we were split up.
and when we grew up an were in college, shared a room for a few months as well.
Where I would wake her up to tell her what message I had received on my pager (yes pager! it was a long time ago)
I can tell Brittney anything and she’ll listen and we laugh like no other.
Happy Birthday little sister. I love you.
