Go back to being 17?
Well I don't think I would but I just watched 17 again and I LOVED it.....It was adorable.
So let's think about being 17.............the year.....1991.
I remember driving my chevy nova to see my amazing friend Lajhette and listening to Mariah Carey sing "Someday" on the radio.
And wanting bamboo earrings at least 3 pair thanks to LL :)
Watching Fried Green Tomatoes in the movie theater and talking to Stevie Douglas about it.
Boyz in the Hood changed my thoughts on gangs as I was a naive 17 year old.
I did enjoy watching Double Dare and didn't mind the green slime!
I had big hair.
I always had big hair.
I always had big hair.
I love big hair :)
Have you ever read what's in your yearbook? It is hysterical.........See if you know who said this....because yes, these are from ALL my facebook friends :) :) :)
"Mindy, I really got to know you a lot better this year. And I am very happy about that. You are a sweet, perty person. I hope you had a good year. I sort of did. Unfortunately, things w/me and Julie didn't work but I guess i don't care. I hope thigns w/ J/Y work out. He is such a stud. Tell him I said...."Hi". Call over the summer if romeo is upsetting you. Love, ______"
"Mindy-hey dude. The past year has been "great fun" to say the least. Like you said, we both need to find some great white men! We've been through our fun w/either fighting with or loving some guy (Chris, Tommy, Russ, Ryan) just to name a few for me. We're going to have to do alot of fun stuff over the summer and just have some "great fun". We still need to go to fiddlesticks so you can ride the cars......."
"Mindy-I can't believe this is almost over. We've been through so much. Too bad we started to fall apart but at least we were able to regain some fo it back. I hope we stay in touch after graduation. I dont' want to have to loose the friendship we've tried to hold onto. I hope all your wishes and dreams come true. Good luck w/Jeff and your future. Love ya and K.I.T."
.................isn't it funny that when we were 17, everything was the end of the world? Everything was so hard? And so funny but we all seemed to have been through SO MUCH!??!!? Trying to explain to the teens that I work with that the heartache they feel over a boy will indeed go away. The anger they have over loosing that basketball game will go away in a day or so. There is so much more to the world than the 10 miles around them. And good God, not everything is abou them! something happens to a teen brain that makes them (us back in the day) become so self centered.
So yes 17 was good.............but do I want to do it again......nah....(But hell, my sister moved her wedding up to March 2010 so I would LOVE the body I had at 17 :)

I agree...I LOVE that picture of us....I even like the 'bad' dance picture...it turned out better than the re-do :)
And as far as the yearbook comments...the 2nd one has to be from me...talking about everyone I 'loved' that year...jeez! ;-)
AHHHHH, the good ol' days!!
Love ya!!!
Laurel
Hair with its own solar system...gotta love that.
I, too, saw that movie. I don't know if I'd want to go back and be 17 again or not. Maybe for a day or two, but not to relive.
Thanks for sharing.
