"A Return to Christmas" By Chris Heimerdinger.
"The Great Brain" series by John D. Fitzgerald.
"Among the Hidden" by Margaret Peterson Haddix (whole series).
"Joey Pigza Swallowed the Key" by Jack Gantos.
"Time for Andrew" by Mary Downing-Hahn.
These are a few books I really love; most of them are for young adults...but my class - as well as several families I know - love them.

I'm a big Christian fiction fan, so anything by Karen Kingsbury is a good pick.
I would have to second The Great Brain series. GREAT BOOKS. Haven't read them since about the 5th grade.
