During my college years, I registered for a class called Personal and Exploritory Writing. I didn't have a clue what that really was and yet I loved this class more than any other!
This is a journaling piece that I wrote in 1995 (Goodness, I am getting old!)
I love halloween. I use to love dressing up. We never had store bought costumes. THere were many times we wanted a plastic Care Bear mask from Smitty's but my mom said, "No way! Those were dumb!"
We always got to choose what we wanted to be and then my mom would go to work! We were bumble bees one year with beautiful, glittery golden wings. We were Mickey and Minnie. I was a french maid once (Ohh la la!) I was Wonder Woman. I was a butterfly. I was a 50's girl complete with my father's letterman sweater. I was so cool!
We use to go to our elementary school carnival and every single year, I won 1st place for the most beautiful costume. The first time I was told I had nice legs was in the 6th grade with my french maid costume. Then I thought I was it!!!
I love giving out candy or decorating or carving pumpkins. Bethany, my youngest sister is 8 and she is not as excited as we use to be...probably because we are so old (meaning the rest of us girls---we would have been Dani-14, Britt 18 and me...21) Things don't seem the way they use to be.
Then again, my dad will take her trick or treating, the way he has been doing for 20 years with his girls. My mom will pass out candy and ooooh and ahhhh about the costumes.
And I will observe, patiently waiting my turn.....
(even at 21, I was anxious to be a mom!)

Passing out candy last night was fun. Last year I only had one trick-or-treater, this year, there was a trove of them.
It seems that like me, Halloween is dearly loved by you too.
